Iron County Warrant Records Iron County Warrant Records

Gaastra warrant questions start at the Iron County courthouse, not a city counter. The city runs no police department and no court of its own. It is the smallest of the county's four cities, so the warrant work falls entirely to the county. The district court holds the case file. The sheriff handles service and custody. Before you call, pull together a case number, or at least a full legal name and a birth year. Ask the clerk which office owns the record you need. Then call ahead before you drive.

Checking for a Warrant in Gaastra

Gaastra citations never stay in town. No city court exists. They route to the county court system, and only the court can explain the case, while the city office covers city notices.

  1. Read the citation or court notice for the case number, the issuing agency, and the date.
  2. Search the case in MiCOURT by case number, or by name with a birth year.
  3. Call the Gaastra city office at (906) 265-2141 if the question is about a city notice.
  4. Call the 95B-2 District Court Clerk at (906) 875-0619 for the docket and the warrant status.
  5. Call the sheriff at (906) 875-0650 when the question is service or custody.

Note: The Gaastra city office keeps a short week, so plan any call for Tuesday through Friday.

Gaastra City Office Hours and Warrant Limits

The city page names city manager and clerk Debbie Tusa, lists (906) 265-2141, and gives PO Box 218 as a mailing address. Office hours run Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Utility and property tax billing goes through an online service. Those hours cover city business only. The office keeps no court files and cannot tell you whether a warrant is open, so a call there suits a city notice or a city record and nothing else.

Gaastra city office page showing hours and no warrant portal

The city page is also where Gaastra posts board meeting notices and other city announcements.

Gaastra Police and Municipal Court

Gaastra publishes no police department page. There is no citation lookup and no city court either. Ordinances and traffic matters go to the district court that serves every other city in the county. Searching harder will not change that. The county court and the county sheriff handle the work a city police department would do elsewhere. The official county court display makes the structure plain: it lists circuit, district, and probate courts. No fifth city court appears for Gaastra.

No Gaastra Warrant Portal or Police Page

The city site posts no warrant form, no active list, and no police contact. The county site adds no city-level warrant page. So the county route is what remains. Find the case in the state's public search. Then call the clerk who holds it. A small city like Gaastra publishes only what its staff can maintain, and Gaastra case data is rarely part of that.

Gaastra Warrant Types

Three court orders reach a Gaastra address most often. Each starts with a missed obligation. A judge signs every one, never a city official.

Warrant TypeHow It ArisesWho Issues It
Traffic warrantA missed traffic date or an unpaid citation95B-2 District Court
Ordinance warrantAn unresolved city code or blight matter95B-2 District Court
Bench warrantA missed court date or a failure to complyThe judge on the case

A felony charge takes a different path and reaches a Gaastra case through the circuit court after a bind-over.

Gaastra Utility Bills Are Not Warrant Payments

The city of Gaastra takes utility and property tax payments through an online billing service. That system covers city accounts only. It has nothing to do with a court file. A court fine or cost goes to the court, through a district court ticket route with its own location code. Paying a city bill will not lift a warrant. Note: Ask which office receives the money before you send it anywhere.

Inside a Gaastra Warrant Record

A Gaastra address on a case means a county court file, and every entry in it follows that docket.

Matter typeOrdinance violation, traffic civil infraction, or misdemeanor
Issuing court95B-2 District Court, which holds the file and controls the warrant

When a Gaastra Warrant Is Missing Online

An empty result usually has an ordinary explanation. The filing may be too recent to post. The case type may be protected. The name may be spelled another way, or another court may hold the file. Call the district clerk and describe what you have. Give the date on the notice and the name exactly as it appears. Ask whether the matter is nonpublic or indexed under a different heading, and ask which court to call if the answer is neither. Note: A gap in a public search for Gaastra warrants settles nothing, and only a clerk can settle it.

How Gaastra Warrants Fit the County System

A Gaastra case enters the county system at the courthouse in Crystal Falls. A citation or a complaint opens the file. The district court holds the case and the warrant, while the sheriff serves orders and answers custody questions.

Warrant flow: Gaastra citation › 95B-2 District Court › Iron County Sheriff

The wider county picture, from the circuit court to the records request process, sits on the Iron County warrant records page. It covers the system Gaastra cases plug into.

Gaastra Warrant Calls and the Fire Line

Gaastra shares a fire department with Caspian. The city site lists the Caspian-Gaastra Fire Department at (906) 265-2113. That number reaches fire and rescue services for the two cities. It is no records line or court contact. Keep each number sorted by purpose. The fire line takes emergencies, the city office takes city business, the district clerk takes Gaastra case questions, and the sheriff takes custody questions. A wrong call costs time and nothing more. Note: Use 911 for anything happening now, and use the court for anything a judge controls.

Gaastra Warrant Records and Public Access

Two rulebooks govern Gaastra records. The Michigan Court Rules govern court case records. County administrative records, including some sheriff material, can be requested under the state open-records law.

Key Rules:

Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq. covers existing records held by a county office, and it does not require the county to create a new list.

MCR 8.119 sets public access to court records, which are not FOIA records.

MCL 15.243 allows a public body to withhold or redact some law-enforcement records.

Name an existing document and a date range in your request. Ask for the parts of a Gaastra record that are not exempt.

Gaastra Warrants and the Courthouse Trip

Gaastra is small. The 2020 Census counted just 316 residents. Its court business, though, happens at the county courthouse in Crystal Falls, which means a real drive, so call before you go. One building answers nearly everything. Suite 5 holds the district clerk, Suite 7 the records coordinator, Suite 9 the county clerk, and Suite 18 the sheriff and jail. Note: The court page sometimes warns of phone trouble and asks callers to use a department email with a callback number.
